Facial rejuvenation

As well as our dental treatment, here at Bushy Park Dental Practice, we take a special interest in providing anti-wrinkle facial enhancement and rejuvenation procedures to ensure our patients have the opportunity to enhance their overall appearance. We use the latest, safest, proven materials and techniques to give our clients more youthful appearance with anti wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers.

These treatments are virtually painless, with short treatment times, and prices that are significantly lower than that of the equivalent surgery. The treatment reversibly relaxes muscle tissue which can be successfully used to combat ageing associated with gravity, sun exposure, and smoking. Botox is injected into crease and wrinkle areas around the face such as the upper lip, forehead, neck lines and ‘crows feet’. We use ‘dermal fillers’ to create volume, smooth out wrinkles and restore fullness to the lips.

What is Botox?

Botox is a safe, purified protein that is injected into the target muscles where it works at the neuromuscular junction, blocking the transmission of signals from nerve endings to muscles. This causes specific and temporary relaxation of the muscle resulting in reduction of wrinkles and smoothening of the skin.

At around 6 months the nerve ending establishes its signals and the muscle regains its activity.

Is Botox® treatment safe for everyone?

Botox® is very safe and has been used by qualified clinicians for many years. However, we are not able to use Botox® in:
  • Areas of local skin infection
  • Known history of hypersensitivity to any ingredient in Botox®
  • Disorders of muscle weakness
  • Pregnancy or breast feeding
  • Severe immunocompromised
  • Concurrent use of antibiotics
  • Anti-coagulant use and bleeding/ bruising disorders

What should I do before my appointment?

We advise that you should avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications 24 hours before treatment.

Always ensure you have given Your Dentist/Dr  a full list of any medications or medical conditions and let us know if there is a special date or event you would like your treatment ready for.

What do I need to do after treatment?

To maximise your treatment benefits and avoid any undesirable side effects, we advise you:
  • keep upright for 6 hours after treatment and try to avoid touching your face.
  • for 48 hours after treatment avoid exercise, steam rooms, saunas, alcohol and facials
  • you can resume other normal daily activities such as driving straight away
  • If you have any worries or concerns just give us a call.

We always welcome you for a review appointment too.

How long does Botox® treatment last for?

The results from treatment with Botox® usually last around 3-6 months. If you did not continue with regular Botox® treatment, your lines would eventually come back to the level they were at prior to your treatment. As lines become softer and the muscles less active, regular clients find they may need Botox® less frequently

How can facial rejuvenation procedures help me?
